Dean Kate Walsh was recently featured in an article in Lodging magazine. The article discusses her career background and the path that led her to the Hotel School faculty and, more recently, to the school's interim deanship.

Students present at the Pitch Deck Competition
Pillsbury Institute sponsors Pitch Deck Competition

A plan for a market-style eatery offering authentic Mexican food won top honors and $3,000 in the Pitch Deck Competition, sponsored by the Leland C. and Mary M. Pillsbury Institute for Hospitality Entrepreneurship, on November 17.

The competition was part of the institute's events for Global Entrepreneurship Week, an international celebration of entrepreneurship promoted by the Kauffman Foundation. Read more »

The annual Cornell Reception at the Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS) is one of the School of Hotel Administration's principal networking events, attracting over 500 alumni and industry leaders each year.

Restaurant Entrepreneurship students get a grand taste of Wegmans

At the end of a daylong trip to Rochester in November, 15 students in Giuseppe Pezzotti’s Restaurant Entrepreneurship class were treated to a sumptuous private dinner hosted by the general manager of an upscale restaurant in the upscale suburb of Pittsford.

Established in 2009, the restaurant represents one of four restaurant formats that Wegmans has rolled out in recent years. The students sampled them all. Read more »

Students present to judges at the Eighth Annual Cornell International Real Estate Case Competition.
Record 20 teams vie in Cornell Real Estate Competition

The Center for Real Estate and Finance hosted the Eighth Annual Cornell International Real Estate Case Competition on November 15 in New York City. This year's event saw a record 20 teams compete for the $10,000 top prize, which went to the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The student teams were required to develop a 15-minute presentation based on a case handed to them during the competition. Read more »
