New institute to promote hospitality labor, employment relations

This month, the SHA launched a new institute dedicated to understanding and improving labor and employment relations in the hospitality industry. Through educational student programming, faculty scholarly research, industry conferences, and roundtables, the Cornell Institute for Hospitality Labor and Employment Relations (CIHLER) will establish itself as the leader in the field and will provide a platform for students, employers, employees, unions, and their advocates to learn about the complex relationship between labor and management.
David Sherwyn, professor of law and the John and Melissa Ceriale Professor of Hospitality Human Resources, will serve as the first CIHLER director. Read More
Hinkin wins Academy of Management award for best HR paper

Tim Hinkin, the Georges and Marian St. Laurent Professor in Applied Business Management, and his colleagues have been selected to receive the 2013 Scholarly Achievement Award, given by the Human Resource Division of the Academy of Management for the most significant article in human resource management published during 2012. SHA announces new faculty members and appointments

With the start of the 2013-14 academic year, the School of Hotel Administration welcomes new faculty members in finance, marketing, and more. In addition, several current SHA faculty members have been appointed to leadership positions within the school. All appointments were effective July 1. Read More

Thanks to our generous alumni, corporate partners, and friends, the SHA’s 2012-13 fundraising year was a great success. We surpassed our Annual Fund goal of $1.525 million (raising $1.577 million) and our overall fundraising goal of $11 million (raising $13.3 million)! These gifts help drive the SHA forward as the school for hospitality leadership. Read More
