| Toni Knorr, MPS ’77 named MMH Outstanding Alumna
Antoinette "Toni" Knorr, MPS '77, general manager of the St. Regis Hotel in San Francisco, has been chosen to receive the 2012 MMH Outstanding Alumna of the Year Award, presented by the master of management in hospitality (MMH) program. Knorr will receive the award at the 11th annual Cornell MMH Reception on November 11, 5:00-7:00 p.m., at the Westin New York at Times Square. Read more.

When classes began on August 22, SHA staff and faculty
welcomed 245 new students: 177 freshmen and 68 transfer students.

| OEE launches Cornell Advanced Programs for hospitality executives
The Office of Executive Education has
introduced a new series of executive-level, topic-specific courses
designed to teach industry leaders about current hospitality trends and
innovations and give them access to a network of international
colleagues. Cornell Advanced Programs are four-day, intensive courses
providing deep understanding in specific topics related to hospitality

| CREF expands educational activities
The Center for Real Estate and Finance (CREF) is expanding both its academic and co-curricular activities as it begins its fourth year of operation. Working in conjunction with the newly named Baker Program in Real Estate, CREF’s goal is to expand scholarship in real estate and finance, expand support of the real estate industry, and support students who are enrolled in the real estate minor. | CHRS preview: 90+ presenters and panelists to share top industry ideas
When the 2012 Cornell Hospitality Research Summit (CHRS) convenes in October, well over 90 industry leaders and researchers will present the latest information on industry issues and solutions. The CHRS, set for October 8 and 9 at SHA, will host up to 300 high-level industry practitioners and academic researchers. | Students put theory into practice while raising support for a good cause
Students in Catering and Special Events
Management will host their annual Charity Auction on November 3,
6:00-10:00 p.m., in the Beck Center. Creative juices are flowing as
students brainstorm the perfect theme for this year’s auction. The
students will also pick multiple charities to support. Last year's class raised more than $20,000. To donate items to the auction,
