| The passing of Dean Emeritus Robert A. Beck '42
It is with the deepest regret that I inform you of the passing of Robert A. Beck ’42, one of the most beloved figures in the history of our school. Bob died July 31, 2012 at the age of 91. Even in my relatively short time here at the school, I grew very fond of Bob, and I will cherish the time spent with this remarkable member of our community. | Record-breaking fundraising year boosts faculty support, scholarships, and facilities
Through the generosity of alumni, corporate partners, and friends, the School of Hotel Administration had a record-breaking fundraising year in 2011-12. Gifts were dedicated to funding new initiatives, providing additional scholarships to students, and supporting faculty renewal and research. Read more.

| Carlos carries Olympic torch
Rodolfo Sebastian Carlos, MMH ’05 was one of the 8,000 inspirational people selected by the London Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) to carry the Olympic flame as it journeyed around the United Kingdom. He passed on the Olympic torch in Willenhall on June 30. Read more.

People attending the 2012 Cornell Hospitality Research Summit (CHRS) will be able to choose from 80 research-based, industry-focused presentations. | Hotelie Tailgate will be a highlight of Homecoming, September 21–23, 2012
Mark your calendar for Homecoming 2012 and all the accompanying SHA events. Hotelie Tailgate will be held Saturday before the Big Red take on the Yale Bulldogs. The Hotel Ezra Cornell culinary team and the collegiate chapter of the Cornell Hotel Society will co-host the event, which is always the envy of the Cornell community.
