Statler wins AAA honor, receives new uniform systems, and launches F&B events
There is much to celebrate at the Statler Hotel this winter. In January, the Statler received its second consecutive AAA Four Diamond Award and installed new state-of-the-art uniform tracking and delivery systems thanks to generous donations from White Conveyors and InvoTech Systems. The Statler has also launched a series of Taverna Banfi EDU events. Read more.

Paula Zahn to emcee Cornell Hospitality Icon & Innovator Awards gala
Eight-time Emmy Award winner Paula Zahn will serve as master of ceremonies at the 4th Annual Cornell Hospitality Icon & Innovator Awards on June 5 at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. At the gala event, Zahn will help honor the Tisch family as the 2012 recipients of the Cornell Icon of the Industry Award. Read more.

Don’t miss the SHA and CHS events at IHIF/ITB in Berlin, Germany
When the International Hotel Investment Forum kicks off on Monday in Berlin, Steve Carvell, associate dean for academic affairs, and other SHA staff will be in attendance. The 4th Annual Cornell/Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne Reception at IHIF/ITB will be held March 6, and the Cornell Hotel Society German chapter will host the CHS ITB 2012 Breakfast on March 8. Cornell Hotel Society to webcast annual meeting at HEC
CHS members around the world can participate in the annual CHS General Membership Meeting during Hotel Ezra Cornell (HEC). Tune in to the live webcast on April 13, 4:15-5:15 p.m. (ET), and hear news from the CHS Foundation, an announcement of a new honorary member, the state of CHS membership, and a special address by Dean Michael Johnson. OEE expands international learning opportunities
In March, the Office of Executive Education will continues its international outreach with a new educational collaboration with Senac São Paulo and with a three-day strategic financial management course for participants from Miramar International Hotel Management Corporation in Hong Kong. NSMH chapter networks with professionals, alumni, and peers at national conference

Student teams prepare for last stage of business plan competition
The second annual Cornell Hospitality Business Plan Competition is just around the corner, and ten semifinal teams are working hard to put the finishing touches on their business plans. The semifinalists were selected from 31 original teams. The cohort will be narrowed down to three to five final teams that will compete for a $15,000 first place prize. Read more.

The Leading Hotels of the World becomes title sponsor of CHRS
The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. will be the title sponsor of the second Cornell Hospitality Research Summit (CHRS), which is scheduled for October 8 and 9. Developed by the Center for Hospitality Research (CHR), the conference will bring industry leaders and academic researchers together to share research-based information designed to advance the industry's practice. Wyndham Hotel Group joins strategic corporate alliance program
Wyndham Hotel Group, the world’s largest hotel company with approximately 7,200 hotels, has joined the strategic corporate alliance program at SHA. Through the alliance, Wyndham Hotel Group will be a partner of the Center for Hospitality Research (CHR) and an industry fellow of the Center for Real Estate and Finance (CREF). Read more.
