A paper by John "Jack" Corgel, the Robert C. Baker Professor of Real Estate, was named the 2011 Edwin S. Mills Best Paper in Real Estate Economics,
the premier journal for the real estate industry. The prize was
presented at the recent meeting of the American Real Estate and Urban

 | Tenth Innovation Network focuses on data and digital entertainment
The January 2012 Innovation Network meeting brought together dozens of top-level executives and featured video interviews by Student Ambassadors from the School of Hotel Administration. The Hotel Ezra Cornell (HEC) organization presented a segment about travel trends and innovations in 2012 on Syracuse’s news channel 9 morning talk show, Bridge Street, on February 3.  | OEE introduces a new certification in properties management and sustainability
The hospitality industry has become increasingly aware that environmentally responsible management and sustainable operating practices have a direct and positive impact on a property’s bottom line. With this in mind, the Office of Executive Education has created a new Hotel Properties Management and Sustainability Certificate. Read more.

 | Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities program comes to SHA
Graduates of the rapidly growing Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV) program were invited to visit the floor of the New York Stock Exchange on January 9. EBV will be held September 29–October 6 at SHA, under guidance of the Pillsbury Institute for Hospitality Entrepreneurship (PIHE), and PIHE Academic Director Neil Tarallo joined the EBV graduates for their NYSE visit. Next September 20 will mark the 90th anniversary of the day classes began for the first time in hotel administration at Cornell University. As part of our yearlong celebration, we are planning a keepsake issue of Hotelie magazine for the spring. Two of the articles we have planned will require a group effort from the SHA community.
