| Marriott Foundation Gives $3 Million to Create New Student Learning Center The J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation has committed a $3 million gift to name the Marriott Student Learning Center. The new center will reconfigure the school’s current Nestlé Library and George B. | Tarallo Joins Pillsbury Institute as Academic Director
Neil Tarallo, newly appointed academic director of the Leland C. and Mary M. Pillsbury Institute for Hospitality Entrepreneurship, comes to SHA from Syracuse University, where he was an assistant professor of entrepreneurship at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. Tarallo comes to the institute with over 30 years’ experience as an entrepreneur and over 10 years’ experience in the classroom. Read more.

| Annual Charity Auction Will Bring the Sounds and Tastes of New Orleans to SHA
Students in Catering and Special Events Management are busy planning the fourth annual SHA Charity Auction. This year’s theme, "Greetings from the Crescent City: A celebration of Jazz, Culture, and Cajun Cuisine," will transport attendees down to the bayou for the evening. SHA is a sponsor of the PhoCusWright Conference, a leading international conference on online travel, November 15-17. Associate professor Chris Anderson will participate in a panel discussion, and senior lecturer Bill Carroll will lead a session on hospitality education. Joe Strodel, Jr., P ’11, director of communications and corporate affairs, will help judge the Travel Innovation Summit, a competition that showcases the next wave of innovation in travel.
